FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

1.The week started "nicely", not only the temperatures had dropped and it was rather cool, but also driving out of a parking space I hit a car ! I got out to see the damage and the driver who was a more than vintage got out too. He made a grumpy and angry face. I looked at his front wing where I had hit him and saw nothing. The wife got out too.

There was a tiny little scratch you almost needed a magnifier to see it. The wife and I agreed, that a  repair was not worthwhile but the old guy insisted to make an official statement for the insurance because he wanted the whole wing replaced ! No wonder that the insurance companies increase their prices this was really an abuse. But I filled in the papers, made pictures to be sure that he didn't get other "accidents" because he told me proudly that it was already the third time that it happened to him. I wonder why, he drove far too quick ! The wife whispered to me, "another day without car" poor thing. My car had nothing at all, so I said good bye and left.

2. The bushes along our entrance had a lot of twigs which grew over so I cut them off and now the entrance is clean again.

3. It rained the whole day and it was cold, not a time to go out at all. It was half of the temperatures we had just the week before.

4. Dominique came over with her papers to fill in the tax form via Internet with Mr. G's help. Unfortunately she had forgotten her pin code and had to go to the city hall to get it back !

I went to do some shopping for my birthday party.

5. I feared for my birthday party which I wanted to do on the terrace, but it was gray and cold in the morning. Fortunately around 2 pm the sun came out and I could dress the table outside. I also have a terrace heater which I switched on when they all arrived. So it was nice and warm.

and here we are, my closest friends. First we had coffee with a Tiramisu and then switched over to Champagne, 3 bottles were emptied during the afternoon and we had a lot of fun. Mr. G. after the Tiramisu escaped and came only back for a glass and then escaped again.

Of course the guest of honor was Charlie who as usual made us laugh. He is a very good dog and lay or under the table or in the grass and never asked for a treat !

We had a real nice afternoon and the last once left at nearly 7 pm. During the evening I felt strange as if I had caught a cold. I hope it will be better because we have to go to Amsterdam to celebrate my birthday with my son and family.

HERITAGE

Letter H

Ever since I started blogging in 2007, a few of my blogfriends unfortunately passed away.

As there is no heritage law to inherit a blog, these blogs are still floating around in the Internet world. Some of them had a mention from the family that the Blog owner had past away. Others are still there without any explanation at all and you only know from others that the blogowner is not there anymore.

So what will happen to your blog ? It will stay as if the owner was still alive, only the blog has no new posts.

Maybe our great great grandchildren can still read the blog of their grandmas or grandpas and know a little more about their lives as what their parents or grandparents had told them. That in itself is a good thing.

I would have loved to see a blog of my grandma, but when she was born in 1894 there was not even a telephone. So many progresses have been made ever since, although the first blogs only appeared around 2005, and they were mostly American.

Today there are countless blogs floating around Internet world and from all continents !

In fact we will never die at least not in Internet and stay there forever, unless you leave it as a heritage to somebody who could continue or delete it.

WEEKEND REVIEW JULY 5

On Saturday, the heat wave continued and we still had over 35°C (95 F). The whole country was paralyzed, some trains didn't work, because the rails had extended in the heat ! The red Cross drove around Brussels and distributed water to the homeless, otherwise they only would drink beer.

I continued to live outside on the Terrace under the pergola with my ventilator.

Nicole came over together with Charlie, who also suffered from the heat. From time to time she put water on him with a water can. He tried to get into the cat tent, but of course he was far too big for that. She couldn't stay in her apartment, it was too hot and on her two big terraces she could almost fry eggs.  So we hang around and drank cold Karkade tea.

During the night there must have been a thunderstorm somewhere because the temperatures had dropped to 25° (77F ) which was very welcomed.  Finally I could go out and do some photo shooting !

Nicole wanted to come with me and we went to the Abbey of Villers la Ville It had changed since I had been there and it had become a Tourist attraction !

We met a Canadian family and there were also people from France and Germany. Charlie thought it was still too warm, and he walked like and old grandpa, and lay down in the shade each time I stopped for a photo shooting ! Inside the ruins it was cool and very nice to walk around.

Exhausted Charlie and I

This cabinet was made for insects, to play and breed in there and it was called "Insect Hotel".

When we had enough we went to the restaurant opposite the ruins and had a nice lunch ! I had melon with Parma ham and Nicole a "Salade Niçoise". Charlie was very thirsty and  was thankful for the water the waitress brought him and he lapped up the whole bowl in no time !

Our coffee we had at the Lion's hill, which again was packed with tourists from all over the world.

While we enjoyed our coffee, Charlie this time was served on a little wall so he didn't even have to bend down. Suddenly dark clouds showed up and Nicole said "it rains !!" . But it didn't rain at all, Charlie had put his tail in the water and while he waggled with it to greet an approaching tourist he sprinkled the water all over Nicole. Useless to say that everybody around burst out in laughter.

We just arrived in time at Nicole's before the rain really started and the temperature dropped in no time and it became real cool for us in our summer dresses.

In the evening the sun came out again, but I think that the heatwave is now gone for good !
