WEEKEND FUNNIES - Spirit talking

With Gattina & Shakira.

Just do a funny post, something which makes us laugh that's the most important.

And of course there also is

here at Me & My Memes

I wanted to go shopping alone in Eastbourne and therefore took the bus. My friends had explained to me which bus to take and they also gave me a spare mobile they had so that I didn't have to use my Belgian one in case I got lost which would be normal for me.

But I found the right bus and also a nice window seat. Besides me sat an old lady. Suddenly my handbag started to speak and said : "set your ring tone" in a deep male voice. I looked at my bag, and the lady at me and we were both quiet surprised until I realized that it was the my friends mobile and I probably had hit a button without knowing it. We both had to laugh about my talking purse and then chatted until I had to get out. When I stood up to leave the bus, my handbag ordered me : "write your text now". The bus driver looked at me with two question marks in his eyes.

I told my purse to please shut up.

*******
I tried to save a cartoon and download it with Window 7 but apparently I don't know how to do it so the cartoon will be for another time.

MY WOLRD

more participants here

Late afternoon today I am sitting in the Eurostar, the train which will take me from Brussels to Ashford in the UK in only two hours. The train runs at up to 300 kilometres per hour (186 mph) ! From there I take the train to Eastbourne at the South East coast of England spending a week with my friends who live there as I do each year.

For me it was a great event when on 14 November 1994 Eurostar services began between Brussels South railway station and Waterloo International station in London. My son lived in London at this time and it was so easy to go by train and not waiting hours at the airport. Since two years St. Pancras International has been chosen for the Eurostar stop in London, which I still don't understand because Waterloo station is much closer to the center and has far more correspondance possibilities. But why make it easy when you can make it complicated.

I took the train for the first time 10 days after the opening and found it very exciting to travel under the sea ! Imagine all the Ferry Boats, Cruise ships and others just swimming over your head ! Lots of people are still afraid to take this train, the idea sitting so deeply under water is scaring them. I think flying in the air is not better.

The construction of the physical tunnel began in 1988, and was finished five years later, in 1993. The Channel Tunnel used by Eurostar services holds the record for having the longest undersea section anywhere in the world, as well as being the second longest tunnel.

The Eurostar and Ashford train station

Inside the tunnel and outside and a drawing from how deep it is

these are the two main tunnels and one emergency tunnel

and when I arrive I will be here for a good week, at the see, waking up with the screams of the seagulls !

FUN MONDAY - Brand Names which make life easy !

Mariposa is trying to reanimate Fun Monday, so please go to her blog and participate. There you will also find all topics for August.

Honnestly I don't care about a brand name. I noticed that today brand names are no guarantee anymore for a good quality, only they are more expensive. Your pay for the name, that's all.

That's why when I buy something which should make my life easy I first look at the price and if it has everything I want. Then only I look at the brand name by pure curiosity

The things which make my life easy are

- the washing machine (Zanussi)
- the dishwasher (Bosch)
- the micro wave (Whirlpool)
- the fridge (Whirlpool) (pure coincidence !)
- the vacuum cleaner is an AEG

and they are all good.

My car is a Opel Corsa (Vauxhall in the UK) because it was a special offer but it could have been any other brand too. Comfort and easy driving is important.

Things make my life easy not the brand names. I couldn't even name a single one as my favorite !

SUMMER STOCK SUNDAY

more participants here at Robin's Around the Island

This week again our summer moved probably to Moscow where it is awfully hot. I couldn't enjoy nothing summerly this week, except mowing the lawn between two showers.

Our street looks wet and it rains, not very much but it is very humid. Since I hang up the little bell at the garden gate so that I can hear people ringing when we are in the garden, we never could sit outside again and nobody had to use the bell !

When my fridge broke down I put its content on the garden table ! It was cooler outside then in our basement ! And it's only August ! Yesterday morning it smelled already a little like automn. Help ! I hate this season ! So besides walking through stores and shopping centers or meeting friends, this week I felt no difference between summer and winter !

The cats too prefer to stay inside and wait that summer comes back !

I only hope that next week I can report about a wonderful warm weather because I will go for a week to the English coast and expect summer there !
