WEEKEND FUNNIES - Action dreams

With Gattina & Shakira.

Just do a funny post, something which makes us laugh that's the most important.

And of course there also is

here at Me & My Memes

In the middle of a night I woke up because of a big booommm with the impression that the whole house was shaking. Mr. G. once again had fallen out of his bed. I switched on the light and looked into his room where I found him sitting on the floor like a roman imperior with the bedlinen draped around his neck and body blinking at me blinded by the light. The bedside table had slid against the wardrobe and a few Ferraris lay on the bed which had fallen from the shelf above the bed. In the middle sat cat Pookie with eyes like saucers obviously very offended.

I asked him what happened. He told me that he had tried to save Ines, because she had slipped and was falling down the steps to the basement.

Ines ??? I tried to remember, she died at least 25 years ago, was one of his aunts in Italy who sat like a fat bee queen in her appartment and received family members who hoped to get some of her money when she died.

Mr. G. tried to gather his bones and got up with the grace of an elephant and sat on his bed. Apparently he had tried to catch her in his arms, had jumped and fallen out of his bed. I told him that he was lucky that he didn't get her he would be flat like a pancake by now due to her weight.

Last time he fell out of his bed and I was disturbed in my precious beauty sleep, he had tried to hide behind a bush because somebody shot at him and of course he had landed on the floor where no bush was growing.

Since he is retired, he has action dreams.

FRIDAY's FAVE 5

more participants at Susanne at Living to tell the Story.

1. The most important news I got this week were from my son, calling me to tell that I will be grandma of a little boy !

Now I can start to look around for blue ! They haven't decided yet on the name. He will be a real little European, with a Dutch mother, a German/Italian father and German/Italian grandparents living in Belgium and Dutch grandparents living in Holland ! That's the future !

2. I read that Elton John gives a concert in Brussels on December 1st ! As soon as the booking line was open, I booked 3 places for me and two friends

Last time he was in Brussels was in 1986 when we went to his concert ! I love his music so much. By the time I had booked and only after an hour most of the tickets were sold !

3. For those who have weeds or grass growing on their patio between the tiles, I got a very nice, cheap and efficient remedy idea from my friend Ilona.

just put salt in the cracks ! I swear no grass or other plants can grow there anymore, which avoids you to have to pull them out. So I salted all the cracks. Next year we will have repaired it.

4. Thursday was our last painting group lesson before the holidays. Unfortunately we have off until September as if we were students ! But we all are on holidays the whole year, these summer holidays are

not very much appreciated because we anyway prefer to stay home and leave the places to parents with children.

5. Last but not least I celebrated my 67 years yesterday !

It was a real nice birthday. First I went with my friends to a Vietnamese Restaurant where we had a wonderful meal outside in the garden. After lunch we went to my house where we had coffee and ice cream on the terrace and chatted the whole afternoon !

I also got lots of presents, a little vase in turquoise, a "Hello Kitty" mouse for my computer, this adorable little basket with a baby cat and its teddy, a beautiful collar which normally twinkles and the cute little cat.

And its not finished yet, because on Saturday my son and DIL arrive for another celebration, birthday and little boy's coming in November !

THE MUFFED TARGET - A new meme

This is the very first "The muffed target" post. There are no special rules. Just post pictures which are not at all like you had wanted and describe how it happened. Then leave a link here on my blog for other participants.

When two weeks ago the reconstitution of the Waterloo Battle took place, I hurried to the battle field to shoot pictures of the big event.

I thought I start my reportage with a view on the Lion, standing proudly on his hill with his face towards the UK and his bottom to France, because Napoleon lost the battle. The poor thing had never been behind barriers, it was the first time in 35 years I saw him locked in.

and here is my lion ! I had taken a picture of a tent, couldn't see anything on the screen of my camera.

it should have been like that.

As BBC, CNN, and other reporters weren't there yet, I took the opportunity to take pictures of the battle field and the tribunes they had built all around for the spectators of the battle

here is the battle field and the tribunes.

at least I took a picture of the harvest before the battle. Don't ask me how it looks now !

WEEKLY WINNERS

More participants here at Sarcastic Mom Weekly winners

This week my "Weekly Winners" are rather short and simple, we have a heat wave and the whole country suffers !

It's over 32 °C (almost 90 F !) We are not equipped at all for such a heat in our usually rather rainy and cool country. The Red Cross and other organizations are underway to supply homeless or old people with water !

The tent of my cat Arthur is the ideal cover against the bright light

I moved my little office on the partly covered patio. Otherwise I would sit in a dark house with all shutters closed to keep the heat out.

When it's hot like this we are not very hungry either, but salads of all kind are welcome.
That's what I prepared yesterday. I grilled zucchinis and red, green and yellow peppers with some herbs and spices.

cooked pasta, it looks like rice, but isn't

grilled shrimps

put all together with Balsamic vinegar and olive oil

and when it was ready it looked like this.

BTW I grilled and cooked EVERYTHING in my microwave, that way I didn't use one single pan or pot and it wasn't hot in the kitchen either and of course it went very quick.
